UNESCO Director-General offers condolences to Poland following President's death in air crash
UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova today expressed her heart-felt condolences to the people of Poland and the families of all those who perished in the tragic plane crash that claimed the life of President Lech Kaczynski and the country's political, military and cultural leaders.
“My heart goes out to the people of Poland to whom I offer my profound condolences,” said Ms Bokova. “The death of President Kaczynski, the First Lady, and Poland's political, military and cultural leaders is a catastrophic loss. That the President and his party were on their way to a ceremony marking the reconciliation between Poland and Russia makes this loss all the more acute.”
