UNESCO GCC & Yemen Office presents its 2016-2017 Achievements Report

UNESCO GCC and Yemen Office’s Achievements Report is an opportunity to highlight the work of the Office, often in cooperation with our regional, national, and local partners.

The Office serves the Kingdom of Bahrain, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sultanate of Oman, State of Qatar, United Arab Emirates, and the Republic of Yemen – supporting national development plans and implementation of the global 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

In line with the Sustainable Development Goals, the Report highlights UNESCO efforts in promoting equitable lifelong learning quality education for all, promoting a culture of peace through intercultural dialogue and the promotions of cultural expressions, foster the protection of the environment, promote free flow of information and expression in line with human rights principles, and contributions to UN country common activities and regional activities and results.

Key features include efforts for regional and national momentum for SDG 4 (Education) by 2030, crisis communication capacity building in Yemen, and recognition of the region’s cultural values. The Office is grateful to the Governments of the GCC and Yemen countries, civil society, and private sector partners for their leadership, commitment and support to the mandate of the Organization
