World Heritage Report: World Heritage and Small Islands

@UNESCOCover of the Report on World Heritage and Small Islands

Small Island Developing States (SIDS) are islands of the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic, Indian and Pacific Oceans. The UNESCO World Heritage Programme coordinates and develops activities in these areas, providing support for the preparation of new nominations to the World Heritage List, and conservation and management assistance for sites inscribed on the List with a view to sustainable development.

This issue will take a close look at how this programme works at the sites of Rock Islands Southern Lagoon (Palau), Aapravasi Ghat and Le Morne Cultural Landscape (Mauritius), Phoenix Islands Protected Area (Kiribati), Historic Bridgetown and its Garrison (Barbados) and Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park (Saint Kitts and Nevis).
