Austria: Inscription Ceremony UNESCO Memory of the World – inclusion of Mainz Psalter and Arnold Schoenberg Estate in the Memory of the World-Register

To celebrate the inclusion of the Mainz Psalter (Austrian National Library) and the Arnold Schönberg Estate (Arnold Schönberg Center) in the Memory of the World-Register, the Arnold Schönberg Center together with the Austrian National Library and in cooperation with the Austrian National Commission hosted the inscription ceremony in Vienna, Austria on 1 December 2011.

While Christian Meyer (Director of the Arnold Schönberg Center) and Andreas Fingernagel (Director of the Collection of Manuscripts and Early Prints at the Austrian National Library) went into detail about the two documents ADG Eric Falt and NatCom President Eva Nowotny addressed the importance of UNESCOs-Memory of the World Programme.  Andreas Mailath-Pokorny (Executive City Councilor of Vienna for Cultural and Scientific Affairs) highlighted the significance of this event for the city of Vienna. At the center of the ceremony stood the world famous Arnold Schoenberg Choir, who provided the outstanding musical backdrop for the celebration. Among the special guests that honored this event with their presence, were the three children of Arnold Schönberg.
