On November 17, the ceremonial presentation of the 2nd round of inscription into the Austrian Memory of the World Register took place at the Österreichische Mediathek (The Austrian Media Library).

 

An additional 22 documents and collections with historical significance and cultural importance for Austria were inscribed into the National Register by the Austrian National Committee of the Memory of the World Programme of the Austrian Commission for UNESCO. The national register now lists in total 41 documents.

 

The Austrian National Memory of the World Register has been developed in order to support the international Programme Memory of the World. It comprises manuscripts, certificates, and prints as well as audio-visual documents with national relevance and is complemented every two years.

 

The opening speeches were given by Dr. Gabriele Zuna-Kratky, the Director of the Technical Museum in Vienna, the President of the Austrian UNESCO Commission, Dr. Eva Nowotny, Dr. Dietrich Schüller, Chair of the National Austrian MoW Committee and Mag. Dr. Gabriele Fröschl, director of the Austrian Media Library. The speeches were followed by short presentations of the elements inscribed.
