Swedish National Commission for UNESCO : Beyond Water Conflicts: Pre-launch of the UNESCO Center on Water Cooperation
To further contribution to UNESCO’s work on science, especially water cooperation, the Government of Sweden has proposed the establishment of a new UNESCO Category II Centre focusing on promoting water for peace and regional development. The proposed Centre will address new and emerging challenges to water cooperation and identify and promote tools to address them, for the benefit of peace and cooperation.
At the seminar the proposed center was presented by Ass. Prof. Anders Jägerskog, Stockholm International Water Institute, together with Deputy Vice Chancellor of Uppsala University, Anders Malmberg, and Prof. Joakim Öjedal. Dr. Blanca Jiménez Cisneros, Director of the UNESCO Div. of Water Science, contributed with her views on water cooperation. The event was moderated by Sweden’s candidate for the UNESCO Executive Board, Ms. Amelie von Zweigberg<a name="_GoBack"></a>k.
