UNESCO has launched a new webpage that brings together profiles of UNESCO’s many projects and initiatives to promote cultural development and industries in Africa.

The webpage serves as a centralized online forum with links to tools, key research and details on UNESCO field offices in the region. It is specially designed for partners and Parties to the 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions.

A few examples

The webpage features several projects covered by UNESCO’s Dakar Office:

  • Professionalization of the copyright sector  in Niger: Ensure that authors and their investors fully grasp the basic legal concepts and can thus ensure proper exploitation of their works.
  • FUTUR ACADEMY in Senegal: Build the capacities of directors of cultural organizations locally in order to implement and monitor cultural policies both locally and nationally.

Call for experts

UNESCO has also launched a Call for Expressions of Interest to solicit applications from African experts to join the 2005 Convention Pool of Experts.

A maximum of 30 candidates will be selected (15 French speaking, 15 English speaking). Women candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Selected experts will receive a five-day intensive training on the 2005 Convention and its implementation at the national level in Africa.
