Capacity-building training seminar for the staffs of National Commissions for UNESCO of the Central Asian region
The Kyrgyz National Commission for UNESCO held a training seminar on 3 to 5 December 2012 in Bishkek for the National Commissions for UNESCO of the Central Asian region. The training was funded by the Korean National Commission for UNESCO and organized at the initiative of the Kyrgyz National Commission for UNESCO. Attended by members of the National Commissions of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, including the Secretaries-General of the Kyrgyz and Tajik National Commissions, the participants had an opportunity to exchange ideas on a number of issues under discussion.
The Director of the UNESCO Almaty Office opened the training seminar and representatives from UNESCO, Korean National Commission, and other National Commissions made presentations on UNESCO’s new partnerships strategy, project implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting functions aimed to further strengthen the capacities of the staff of National Commissions to carry out their functions.
The participants during the deliberations agreed on the usefulness of the seminar and emphasized there is a need to continue this training to maintain and support the coordination of activities in the Central Asian region.
