International Congress on Juvenile Justice, International Catholic Child Bureau (BICE)
26 June 2013, Conference Centre of the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Paris, France
On June 26th of this year at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, BICE is bringing together international experts and institutional directors to discuss socio-educational alternatives to the imprisonment of youth in conflict with the law.
This question is of particular interest today as, under pressure from the media and public opinion, the majority of countries, like France, are strengthening their policies to the point of placing them below the international standards that these countries follow. However, numerous occasions have shown that imprisonment is rarely the appropriate response to resolving the problem of juvenile delinquency.
The objective of BICE’s Congress is to present practices that have been proven to be successful in several countries in order to establish plans for action and recommendations for the future. François Zimeray, Marie Derain, Jean-Louis Daumas as well as Jean Zermatten will be present at the Congress along with many other speakers.
Please find attached the programme of this Congress.
