Director-General on an official visit to Saudi Arabia

UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova is on an official visit to Saudi Arabia from 20 to 23 April. During this visit, the Director-General is expected to meet with His Majesty King Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz Al Saud and several government officials, including the Minister of Education Prince Faisal bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Saud and Deputy Minister of Education for Women’s Affairs Norah Al Fayez.

The Director-General will visit the first women’s university in Saudi Arabia, Princess Nora bin Abdulrahman University. It is also the largest women-only university in the world. She will also visit King Abdullah University for Science and Technology, a university founded in 2009 that focuses exclusively on graduate education and research, as well as King AbdulAziz Historical Center and the Thumama Desert.
