Director-General on Official Visit to Côte d’Ivoire
On 13 September, the Director-General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova, will undertake an official visit to Côte d’Ivoire, where she is expected to meet with the President of the Republic and several ministers working in the fields of competences of the Organization.
While in Côte d’Ivoire, the Director-General will inaugurate UNESCO’s National Office in Abidjan. The inauguration of this Office marks a shared commitment to enhance cooperation between UNESCO and Côte d’Ivoire -- it comes as an effort to accompany Côte d’Ivoire in building peace and sustainable development. The event is expected to take place in the presence of a number of ministers, ambassadors and UN heads of agencies.
The Director-General is also expected to launch a project on teacher training financed by China. The aim of the project is to train an adequate number of qualified teachers to bridge the education quality gap. The event will take place in the presence of the Minister of National Education of Côte d’Ivoire and the Chinese Ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire.
