Celebrating Papanicolaou's achievements for humanity, November 8, 2012, UNESCO, Room IX, 7, place de Fontenoy, 75007 Paris
This year UNESCO is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the death of the eminent scientist George N. Papanicolaou and his groundbreaking work as a pioneer in cytology and early cancer detection. On this occasion UNESCO, the Greek Permanent Delegation to UNESCO, and the Hellenic National Commission for UNESCO are organizing a ceremony at UNESCO’s Headquarters dedicated to Papanicolaou’s achievements; this event will also raise gender issues that deter women from practicing preventive health care and screening.
