Kazakhstani Clubs for UNESCO mobilized through social media

Sing. Create. Inspire: towards a culture of peace in face of COVID-19 crisis

Even though the general advice during the current COVID-19 pandemic is to maintain distance and isolation, people are turning to creative means to stay connected. In this case, music is one of the most powerful energies in the universe. Lyrics, in turn, can raise spirit, inspire and unite people. Artists, composers, and musicians from all over the world have started giving their concerts online and launching various initiatives.

One such initiative, online challenge #UNESCOClubsUnity, was launched by Kazakhstan National Federation of Clubs for UNESCO in coordination with the National Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The challenge was started by a young Kazakhstani singer, Winner of “The Voice Ukraine”, owner of the status Vocal Wonder on ‘The World’s Best’, and Envoy of Kazakhstani Clubs for UNESCO Daneliya Tuleshova. She encouraged everyone to join and sing a fragment of the anthem of Kazakhstani Clubs for UNESCO. The text of the song covers all the goals and values of UNESCO and calls people to improve and maintain peace throughout the world.

It is hoped that these challenging times will soon be behind us. And we will someday remember this difficult period, filled with pain, uncertainty and fear as well as small moments of hope and humanity.

As the UNESCO Clubs movement is a worldwide network, and Kazakhstan Federation chairs the Asian-Pacific Federation of UNESCO Clubs and Associations, children from other countries can participate in the challenge and make it an international one. Children from Central Asia and Russia have already supported their peers from Kazakhstan.
