Opera "Madame Curie"

In the framework of the International Year of Chemistry announced by the United Nations and coordinated by UNESCO, the Permanent Delegation of Poland to UNESCO and Natural Science Sector of UNESCO organize the premiere of opera ‘Madame Curie’ composed by Elżbieta Sikora. The opera was created by the Baltic Opera in Gdansk thanks to the support and patronage of Mr Bogdan Zdrojewski, the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

This biographical opera is dedicated to Marie Skłodowska – Curie, a scientist who was awarded twice by Nobel Prize and has been chosen as a patron of the International Year of Chemistry.  

Elżbieta Sikora is a composer and an outstanding Polish artist related to the French culture sphere. She is an author of numerous compositions performed and recorded all over the world.

The libretto has been written by Agata Miklaszewska, a novelist  and libretto-writer, whose musical “Metro” has not left Polish stages for almost twenty years now.
