The Director-General visits the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, Uganda and Nigeria
From 15 to 21 June 2010, UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova pays official visits to the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, Uganda and Nigeria, where she holds talks with government officials and participates in various UNESCO-related activities.
The Director-General will be in Tripoli, Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, from 15 to 17 June, where she meets with leaders and attends the Regional Conference on the Pedagogical Use of the General History of Africa. The ‘General Histories of Africa’ is a UNESCO collection of publications that is considered a major contribution to the knowledge of Africa’s history and historiography.
The next stop is Kampala, Uganda, on 18 and 19 June, where Irina Bokova is scheduled to have high-level meetings and address the 12th Regional Conference of National Commissions in Africa. She will also hold consultations on the preparation of UNESCO’s next programme and budget.
From 20 to 21 June, the Director-General will be in Abuja, Nigeria, for the Eighth E-9 Ministerial Review Meeting, which aims to contribute to halving adult illiteracy rates by 2015, an Education for All (EFA) goal.
