Training in peace education for Cape-Verde and Guinea-Bissau
A training workshop will take place from 17-21 December 2012 to teach trainers from Cape Verde and Guinea-Bissau in a use of a new manual on peace education, citizenship and regional integration.
The manual is a reference document for the 15 countries of ECOWAS, the Economic Community of West African States. It is a cornerstone in the project on “Peace and Development”, which is coordinated by UNESCO’s Regional Office in Dakar.
“The aim is to train a critical mass of trainers and curriculum planners who can leverage the training in their structures and integrate the different themes in education systems,” says Pape Guisse, project coordinator at UNESCO Dakar.
Similar training workshops already took place in Liberia and Côte d’Ivoire. One more workshop is planned for 4-8 February 2013 in Sierra Leone for English-speaking African countries.
