UNESCO Doha joins the 2017 Bett Middle East Summit in Abu Dhabi

Within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goal 4-Education 2030, UNESCO Doha organized a UNESCO panel on “Regional Education Leaders Panel discussion – ‘Implementing a roadmap for equitable and inclusive education: Ensuring investment drives real improvement in learning and educational quality,” in the Bett Middle East 2017 Conference held on 26 April 2017 in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, this cutting edge Bett Middle East 2017 Conference brought together regional senior education leaders and esteemed global speakers under the theme: “Igniting Excitement through Innovation in Learning”, and connected over 1,600 education leaders and educators to discuss educational transformation within the MENA region.

During the UNESCO panel, some of the issues discussed were: (1) To what extent is the global SDG 4 agenda aligned with national education priorities in your country? How does the national coordination team collaborate with other sectors such as health, environment, labor, etc.? (2) What measures have been made in your country to implement a Road Map for equitable and inclusive education? (3) How are education investments improving learning and educational quality in your country?

UNESCO Doha office was represented by Dr. Faryal Khan, Programme Specialist for Education.  Also in the panel are: H.E. Mrs. Amal Al-Koos, Secretary-General of UNESCO National Commission in the UAE and Dr. Fatimah Al Hashem, General Manager, Teaching Developmen Department, National Center for Education Development, Kuwait.
