UNESCO supports development of OER in Morocco
Within the framework of UNESCO’s programme to promote Open Educational Resources, the UNESCO Rabat Office is organizing a workshop at the Morocco-Korean Training Centre on ICT in Education in Rabat from 3 to 6 October. The workshop will focus on the use of Scenari-Opale, an editorial chain under the FOSS licence, which allows teachers to easily produce, manage and publish educational resources in various formats.
The ultimate goal of this workshop is to promote the development of teaching and learning materials that are freely available online, and to allow global communities of practice in Morocco (including teachers, learners and education professionals) to freely copy, adapt and share their resources.
The Opale Scenari software, which serves as a basis for the workshop, has been translated into Arabic within the framework of the UNESCO-ISESCO project, Miftaah. At the workshop teacher-trainers from the Moroccan Ministry of Education will learn how to the use this tool to create digital pedagogical resources. They will also have an opportunity to exchange methodologies and resources in a view to duplicate the trainings in different teacher-training institutions in Morocco.
Organized in partnership with ISESCO, the Moroccan Ministry of Education, the engineering School of Mines Albi-Carmaux and the French Technological University of Compiegne, the workshop will be conducted in a form of action-training, and the participants will work on their own pedagogical materials with the objective to transpose them to the editorial chain.
UNESCO recognizes the potential of Open Educational Resources to widen access to quality education and contributes to the development of OER materials.
