Voices against Racial Discrimination: SNS campaign launched by the UNESCO Group of Friends for Solidarity and Inclusion with Global Citizenship Education

Group of Friends for Solidarity and Inclusion with Global Citizenship Education, a group made up of UNESCO Member States and focused on exchanging experiences and finding ways to counter hate and discrimination in the post COVID-19 period, launched a SNS campaign “Voices against Racial Discrimination” on 21 March 2021 in celebration of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

The Group produced a video showing the Ambassadors reading anti-racism quotes and slogans and a photo of them holding hashtag cards #FullfiltheDream and #fightracism to be shared online. Nine members of the Group, namely Afghanistan, Austria, Armenia, Bangladesh, Kuwait, the Philippines, Republic of Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Serbia participated in this campaign. Mexico, a Member State that led the adoption of an anti-racism Resolution “Elimination of racial discrimination, racial hatred and racial hate crimes in the world” at the 40th session of the General Conference, also took part.

This campaign will also be introduced at the Global Forum against Racism and Discrimination on 22 March 2021 co-hosted by UNESCO and the Republic of Korea.

UNESCO and the Group of Friends for Solidarity and Inclusion with Global Citizenship Education encourage its partners join this campaign to spread messages advocating mutual understanding and respect of others – the very essence of what this International Day is all about.
