Business, NGOs and celebrities are for the world without AIDS

A press-conference “Business, NGOs and celebrities are for the world without AIDS” took place in 1 December, 2011. The event was initiated and organized by L'ORÉAL Russia, jointly with UNESCO Moscow Office, with information support of Dance4Life Project and with the participation of charitable foundation “Kto esly ne ya?” (Who else but me?)

Elizaveta Aleksandrova, Head of Corporate Communications L'ORÉAL Russia, opened the press-conference and introduced the programme. Since 2005 number of participants of the programme comprised 26 countries. The global prevention education campaign, unique of its kind, has already reached out to 1.3 million hairdressers, raising awareness and providing information by introducing HIV/AIDS prevention modules as part of their professional training courses. 500 000 specialists join the programme annually, 5000 experts educate hairdressers in 300 L'ORÉAL academies all over the world, that results in millions of dialogues about HIV and AIDS based on true facts and reliable information.

In 2007 the programme was launched in Russia – said Elizaveta Shinkareva, PR & Communications, L'ORÉAL Professionnel, in the continuation of the press-conference. 2000 trainings were conducted with the participation of more than 20 000 hairdressers as of today.

Tatyana Nestruyeva, technologist L'ORÉAL Professionnel, shared information about her personal experience in the programme implementation. The programme is the component of the training “Keys for colour” for hairdressers. Once hairdressers receive training, they go on to play a fundamental role, in their turn, in awareness raising and education. Hairdressers make up a large community, whose close personal links and ability to communicate with their clients are a highly effective way of passing on vital information for the prevention of HIV/AIDS.

On his turn, Tigran Yepoyan, UNESCO Regional HIV & AIDS  Adviser, introduced UNESCO strategy on HIV and AIDS prevention and pointed out that L’ORÉAL's educational culture, based on a corporate philosophy of health, hygiene and safety and expressed through its long-established global training network, was enhanced by partnership with UNESCO and its international mandate in education.

Valentina Agafonova, Dance4Life Russia said about innovative approaches in HIV prevention among young adolescents and shares with audience a video address from Ivan Traore, popular MTV VJ. Yana Laputina, “Domashny” TV channel and actress Anastasia Makeyeva emotionally expressed their attitude to the subject and urged the public to pay attention to the HIV prevention.

Lyudmila Fomenko, announced a fundraising campaign that was launched by the charitable foundation “Kto esly ne ya?” Matrix  andL’ORÉAL Professionnel. From 1 December to 31 December everyone can donate to children living with of affected of HIV.
