Development of Multilingualism in Cyberspace: Handbook for Libraries

Within a project supported by the UNESCO Moscow Office the Russian Committee for the UNESCO Information for All Programme and the International Centre for Library Cooperation published a handbook for libraries “Development of Multilingualism in Cyberspace”.

The book covers various aspects of multilingualism in cyberspace, describes the activities of international organizations in support of multilingualism, and thoroughly analyzes the current situation in language diversity in the Russian Federation. Particular attention is paid to the opportunities for libraries in supporting multilingualism. Based on the analysis of best practices from several regions of the Russian Federation and foreign countries (Belarus, Kazakhstan, New Zealand and Finland), the book provides recommendations for libraries in the area of preservation of the diversity of languages and cultures.
This book is intended for chief librarians and library staff, for institutions and authorities dealing with culture, science, education, information, communication, ethnocultural policy and interethnic relations.
