Educational Forum “ALTAY-ASIA 2012”: Outcomes
On September 18-20 Altay State University hosted a regional educational Forum “Altay-Asia 2012. Modernisation of Professional Education in Russia and Globally. New Quality for Development”. This Forum was organised by the Altay University in cooperation with the UNESCO Moscow Office and was supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the Federal Education and Science Supervision Service, and the Altay regional administration.
About 400 educational professionals and experts from 6 European and Asian countries and 40 Russian regions participated in the Forum and discussed issues of modernisation of professional education for sustainable development, interaction between employers and educational institutions, innovative approaches and ICT in education including inclusive education.
UNESCO and ILO experts from Russia and Belarus presented internationally proven approaches and standards for comprehensive health, sexuality and HIV prevention education, including good practice from Eastern Europe and Central Asia (a special health education module for TVET institutions and Belarus experience in formal and informal health and HIV prevention education).
The Russian Union of Rectors organized a special session on inclusive education where UNESCO-ILO’s regional recommendations on HIV policy for educational sector were presented. These Recommendations provide a framework for inclusive education of HIV-infected and affected learners and their protection from discrimination.
