L’Oreal in cooperation with the UNESCO Moscow Office presented the joint HIV prevention education programme “Hairdressers of the World against AIDS” in Moscow on 19 December 2007

L’Oreal in cooperation with the UNESCO Moscow Office presented the joint HIV prevention education programme “Hairdressers of the World against AIDS” in Moscow on 19 December 2007.


The launch of the Programme in Russia is the part of the global activities of L’Oreal and UNESCO dedicated to the transmission of the information on HIV and AIDS from hairdressers to their customers. The Programme has already been launched in 14 countries of the world – Argentina, Brazil, China, Great Britain, France, Germany, India, Italy, Malaysia, Poland, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, and Thailand.
The goal of the programme “Hairdressers of the World against AIDS” is the prevention of further spread of the epidemic and promotion of the tolerant attitude to people living with HIV.


L’Oreal will provide the hairdressers with the up-to-date information on HIV. Later they will be able to transmit this information to their friends and customers. Hairdressers business is characterized by the high level of confidence between a master and his customer, and they can discuss even the most personal questions.


The Programme’s is easy for apprehension. Audience of the L’Oreal Professionel shall fill in the questionnaire on HIV and AIDS, then view the film and later fill in the questionnaire once again using the new information to correct the mistakes. The first pilot training showed that almost 100% of the hairdressers supports the Programme and would like to take part in it.


The cooperation agreement for the programme “Hairdressers of the World against AIDS” has been established between L’Oreal and UNESCO in 2005. Thus, UNESCO makes one more step to Education for All. The Programme is also supported by the Federal Service of the Russian Federation for Surveillance in Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare.
