Moscow Cluster Meeting 2012
Representatives of National Commissions for UNESCO of the cluster countries of the UNESCO Moscow Office met on November 14th in Moscow.
The Cluster meeting was attended by the First Secretary of the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO Ms Gunay Afandiyeva, the Chairperson of the National Commission of the Republic of Belarus for UNESCO Mr Uladzimir Shchastny, the Secretary General of the National Commission of the Republic of Moldova for UNESCO Mr Constantin Rusnac, the Secretary General of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO Mr Grigory Ordzhonikidze. The National Commission of the Republic of Armenia was represented by the Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in the Russian Federation Mr Ara Avetisyan.
The participants discussed the results of the cooperation of the National Commissions and UNESCO Moscow Office during the first year of the current biennium. The implementation of the UNESCO Country Programmes (UCPDs) and UNESCO’s contribution to the achievement of UNDAF results were the focus of discussion at the cluster meeting. The participants also discussed the terms and modalities of development of new UCPDs for 2013-2015. Mr Dendev Badarch, the Director of the Moscow office informed the participants about the role of UNESCO in the country level consultations in Armenia and the Republic of Moldova on the Post-2015 Development Agenda.
At the end of the meeting, the participants highlighted the important role the UNESCO Moscow Office plays in promotion of UNESCO’s programmes and strategies not only in the Moscow cluster countries but also in other CIS countries and hoped that productive cooperation of the National Commissions and the UNESCO Moscow Office will continue.
