New Manual: How To Use Theater to Respond to HIV and AIDS
The manual was a result of the project «The Use of Theatre Art in HIV Prevention among Youth» implemented by the Belarusian Association of UNESCO Clubs with the financial support of the UNESCO Moscow Office.
The manual gives practical guidance on how to organize HIV prevention work using Forum Theatre technique in the secondary school. The technique, described in the manual, was tested during the training seminars conducted in the framework of the project. The Forum Theater technique is based on using participatory communication methods to involve the audience in the play, which helps people think and respond.
The manual consists of three theoretical and one practical module:
- Methodological recommendations for organization and conducting of the activities on HIV prevention among young people,
General information about the HIV and AIDS epidemic necessary to know for organizing HIV prevention projects, Information module on organizing the Forum Theater, which provides description of the performance preparation technology starting from a theme choice and coming to its staging and conducting the Forum Theater, Practical module on how to conduct the Forum Theater, which includes 15 scenarios developed by participants of the International Summer University of UNESCO Clubs - young people aged 14-17.
The manual «Use of the Theatre Art in HIV Prevention among Youth» is recommended for specialists working with youth on HIV prevention at the secondary and vocational schools, universities, out–of-school educational establishments.
