New Websites for the National Committees for UNESCO Man and the Biosphere Programme Of Armenia, Azerbaijan And Georgia
In the year 2002, the UNESCO Moscow Office has initiated an activity aiming to foster ecological sciences and sustainable development in the countries of the Caucasus through the establishment of UNESCO Biosphere Reserves.
With the financial support of the UNESCO Venice Office and the Japanese Funds in Trust, a project was developed to help 3 countries to establish their first three UNESCO Biosphere Reserves, model sites for sustainable development. Expert groups have identified priority areas, specialists are now drawing up inventories of landscapes, flora and fauna and assessing the cultural and social situation in these priority sites.
The three National Committees on the UNESCO MAB programme have also prepared web-presentations in the framework of this project, highlighting the ongoing activities. The web-sites of the three National Committees can be found using the following addresses:
