The National Capacity-building Training for the Museum specialists of the Republic of Moldova
From 11 May to 16 May 2009 the National Capacity-building Training in Museum Management based on UNESCO/ICOM Museum Studies Training Package for the Museum Specialists of the Republic of Moldova was conducted in Chisinau, the Republic of Moldova.
The Training was organized and conducted with the support of the UNESCO Moscow Office within the frames of the Agreement signed between UNESCO and Intergovernmental Foundation for Educational, Scientific and Cultural Cooperation (IFESCCO) on cooperation in the field of museum development in the CIS countries. The National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History of the Republic of Moldova assumed the role of organizer of the Training, carrying out the activities in cooperation with the National Museum of Archeology and History and the National Art Museum under the auspices of the National Commission of the Republic of Moldova for UNESCO.
The Training in Chisinau represented the next step in the implementation of the project consisting of the organization of a series of Capacity-building Trainings for Museum Specialists of the CIS countries, and followed the Regional Capacity-building Training in museum management for CIS countries based on UNESCO/ICOM Museum Studies Training Package, which took place with participation of museum specialists from the Republic of Moldova (29 June – 6 July 2008, Saint-Petersburg, the Russian Federation).
The programme of the National Training included such crucial issues of museum’s work as: problems of professional ethics, providing security, trends of development of museum documentation, as well as matters of scientific description, storage and preventive conservation of collections. The experts and the participants of the Training examined a series of issues related to the conducting of exhibitions, the reception of visitors and legal aspects of the museum work, receiving as well necessary knowledge and skills in order to conduct lectures to their colleagues locally.
Leading museum experts of the Republic of Moldova took part in the event, as well as 20 representatives of museum field of different regions of the country.
Within the frames of the project of the UNESCO Moscow Office the first National Capacity-building Training for Museum Specialists of Azerbaijan was conducted from 20 April to 22 April 2009 in Baku, Azerbaijan. Later, it is planned to conduct National Capacity-building Trainings in Armenia (Yerevan, 10-14 June 2009), Belarus (Minsk, 26-28 May 2009), and the Russian Federation (Kazan, 7-10 September 2009). The outcomes of these National Capacity-building Trainings will be edited in a presentational publication containing detailed information and the results of the conducted activities.
