UNESCO Establishes Two Community Multimedia Centres in Khanty-Mansiyskiy Autonomous Region
Two Community Multimedia Centres (CMC) for the local communities of Siberian Forest Nenets and Yugansk Khants were established in Khanty-Mansiyskiy Autonomous Region – Yugra with the UNESCO Moscow Office financial support.
The purposes of the project are Siberian Forest Nenets family group and Yugansk Khants patrimonial community cultural heritage safeguarding and its popularization via high technologies.
In the framework of the project the equipment to access to the Internet was purchased and the training on distance learning and collecting and transmitting ethnographical materials to the Institute of Languages, History and Culture of Yugra region, Yugra State University, was conducted.
Information on Nenets and Khant languages, traditions and habits, myths, legends and festivals transmitted via Internet will be placed on the Khanty-Mansiyskiy Autonomous Region educational portal (www.eduhmao.ru ) in “Indigenous Peoples” section.
