UNESCO Moscow Office invites specialists in education to submit applications for copy-editing of a UNESCO-UNFPA joint publication

UNESCO Moscow Office invites specialists in education to apply for copy-editing and proofreading of a UNESCO and UNFPA joint publication HIV, Sexuality and Reproductive Health Education in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. A Review of Policies and Practices, hereinafter ‘Review’.

The Review is prepared in English and consists of a regional review (35 pages), eighteen individual country assessments (100 pages) and annexes (tables) (15 pages). 

The ‘Review’ has to be copy-edited to ensure that the text reads well, is clear and free from mistakes and errors. Consistency and fluency of style throughout the regional review and within each country assessment and across all tables and figures has to be ensured. Any structural or substantive errors have to be discussed with the designated staff of the UNESCO Moscow Office and improved. However, no substantial rewriting of the Review is envisaged under this assignment. 

The regional review, eight country assessments and annexes have to be edited and proofread between August 15 and 30, 2013. The remaining ten country assessments have to be edited and proofread between August 25 and September 10, 2013. The whole Review has to be proofread again between September 20 and 30, 2013 after its design and layout would have been prepared for printing. 

The successful applicant is expected to have a minimum 5 years of experience in research and analysis, curriculum development and training in the field of education, preferably in life skills-based health /SRH and HIV education. Excellent writing skills and attention to details are required, previous experience of editing or writing similar documents is highly desired.

  • Letter of Interest with expected remuneration and confirmation of ability to completed the tasks within the required timeframe.
  • Curriculum Vitae detailing relevant experience and providing a list of publications and edited documents and references. 
  • Sample documents edited or written.
