This 2013 meeting of the Southeastern European Network in Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (SEENET-MTP) will bring together about 40 leading researchers in the fields of High Energy Physics and Cosmology of South East Europe (SEE), Europe and U.S.A., as well as up to 20 advanced Ph.D. students from SEE. Representatives from EPS, BPU, CERN, SISSA, ICTP, UNESCO, CEI, SEE Physics National Societies, and Serbian Ministry of Education and Science will also participate.

Balkan Workshop BW2013 is organized from 25-29 April 2013 in Vrnjačka Banja in the western part of Serbia by the Faculty of Science and Mathematics, University of Niš, Serbia, in co-operation with CERN Theory Division and Ludwig-Maximilians-University LMU/MPI Munich, and UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe, Venice (Italy).

The purpose of the workshop is twofold. The scientific part of the workshop will include recent developments in “Beyond the Standard Model(s)” of particle physics and cosmology. The educational and organizational part will comprise a discussion which should lead to “Beyond the Standard Model” in regional and inter-regional co-operation in Science and Education.

The first two days (26-27 April) will be mainly devoted to the scientific problems and new trends in (Astro) Particle Physics and Cosmology. This will be an excellent opportunity to gather leading experts in physics, as well as young researchers and advanced students from South-East, Central and Eastern Europe, Europe, U.S.A. and all over the world, to discuss open problems and perspectives in the main scientific areas of the Workshop.

The third day (28 April) will include a series of round tables with a few invited lecturers and moderators from Central European Initiative (CEI), UNESCO, European Physical Society (EPS), Balkan Physical Union (BPU), Serbian Physical Society (SPS), European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) and others. The round tables' discussion will be focused on actions promoting and strengthening research, education and capacity-building in physics in natural sciences with a focus on South Eastern Europe, in a European and worldwide framework.

BW2013 will be the main event of the SEENET-MTP Network’s programme this year, along with the celebration marking the 10 years of the Network.
