Biotic parameters monitored include species populations (turtles, monkeys, manatees and mangroves). Collaborative research is done with universities, research institutions and other organizations. Abiotic parameters monitored include rainfall, precipitation, air pressure, shoreline recession, relative humidity, air temperature and sea surface temperatures. Socioeconomic surveys are in progress and studies on climate change and alternative livelihoods expected to be started.
