Marawah MBR applies the concepts of integrated planning for sustainable development. Local communities are benefiting through involvement in all of the planned projects.
The 3 core areas of MMBR represent 11% of the total area and are restricted to scientific research and non-destructive sampling only.
Residential activities on islands and the main land part of the coast make up to the buffer areas that represent 67% of the total area.
The transition zones represent 22 % of the total area where traditional fishing, an oil loading terminal and recreational activities are permitted and monitored.
