Baseline studies have been completed during 2005-2010 as part of the GEF Atoll Ecosystem Conservation project. These include: Marine Biodiversity baseline; Birds and Bats summary report; Economic valuation of Biodiversity; Socio-economic baselines. An intensive long-term study of whale sharks and manta rays is being organized by the resorts. Each resort also has an ongoing reef monitoring programme.
