Obituary: Maria Herrera, former President of the National MAB Committee of Cuba
Dr. Maria Herrera, who was President of the National MAB Committee of Cuba between 1979 and 2005, and Member of the Commission of Science Programmes at the Cuban National Commission of UNESCO, passed away on January 15, in Havana, Cuba.
For many years, Maria Herrera was linked to UNESCO and the MAB Programme. She was a member of the International Coordinating Council of the MAB Programme, member of the International Group of Quality Economies, member of the MAB National Committees Network and the Ibero-American MAB Network (IberoMAB).
With her human and social vision and technical capacity, Maria Herrera fought on all fronts, in organizations and agreements, and participated in numerous national and international meetings where the future of the MAB Programme and the Biosphere Reserves were discussed.
