UN Water Talks: Irina Bokova on the Current State of Water Diplomacy
On Tuesday 24 April, UNESCO-IHE, in cooperation with the City of Delft and Delfland Water Board, will host the UN Water Talks.
The UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education is launching the first of a new series of events called 'UN Water Talks' in collaboration with the City of Delft and the Delfland Water Board. Current and former dignitaries of the United Nations will be invited as keynote speakers, and be asked to reflect on a variety of current issues. The target audience of the UN Water Talks is first and foremost young professionals, the next generation of water leaders from developing countries.
This year’s talk will be held by the UNESCO Director-General, Irina Bokova. She will reflect on the role of the United Nations and UNESCO in mediation and conflict negotiation, and specifically, on the current state of water diplomacy.
