Gender Workshop in San Salvador

During the GGRETA Phase II ATOC Project workshop ‘Agua y Genero’ in San Salvador, WWAP organized a training on gender concepts and on the Water & Gender Toolkit.

This regional workshop took place on December 5th in San Ignacio, El Salvador, and was organized in the framework of the second phase (2016-2018) of the GGRETA project (Governance of Groundwater in Transboundary Aquifers) which is led by the International Hydrological Programme (UNESCO IHP) with the support of the Swiss Agency for Cooperation and Development (SDC). More specifically, the workshop focussed on the 'Ocotepeque-Citalá Transboundary Aquifer' (GGRETA-ATOC).

WWAP held a 1 day training on gender concepts, on the WWAP Toolkit for sex-disaggregated water data collection and the use of priority indicators. Special attention was also given to the topics of gender and groundwater management and transboundary waters.

The training was attended by regional organizations, municipalities and local women organizations from the countries El Salvador, Honduras (which share the transboundary Otepeque-Citala aquifer), and saw the participation of Guatemala’s representatives.
