The First International Forum Rules of Water, Rules for Life took place in Milan on 27-28 September.

The conference, promoted by Milan Center for Food Law and Policy under the auspices of the Italian Presidency of the G7, benefits from the scientific support of the World Water Assessment Programme and OECD Water Governance Programme.

The Forum Rules of Water, Rules for Life aimed at providing a platform to encourage multisectoral and multidimensional debate and at fostering the discussion on the translation of existing water-related principles into practice, taking into account the context of 2030 Agenda.

In this framework, the WWAP Coordinator presented the main findings of the WWDR 2017, "Wastewater The Untapped Resource".

WWAP also introduced the Toolkit on Water and Gender and co-organized the second day of the event dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Dublin Statement on Water and Sustainable Development, that acknowledged the central role of women in the provision, management, and safeguarding of water.

WWAP invited experts and representatives of international organizations to be part of the thematic panels and to discuss on:

  • The Women's water burden: nutrition, health and sanitation, income generation, agricultural extensions and environmental stewardship
  • A critical nexus: women, jobs and water
  • Moving beyond inequalities: leaving no one behind
