UNESCO at the European Development Days

On June 5th - 6th 2018 UNESCO takes part in the 12th edition of the European Development Days (EDD) organized by the European Commission Directorate General for International Cooperation and Development – DG DEVCO.

The EDD are the Europe’s leading forum on development since 2006, bringing the development community together; this year’s edition is entirely dedicated to gender equality and women’s empowerment: ‘Women and Girls at the Forefront of Sustainable Development: protect, empower, invest’.

On the 5th of June, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Education Ms. Stefania Giannini takes part in the panel discussion “All4SDG5: Young Leaders driving gender equality” together with High Representative of the European Union and Vice President of the European Commission HR/VP Federica Mogherini, and Minister Advisor to the President of Senegal Youssou N'Dour.

On the 6th of June WWAP Deputy Coordinator, Ms. Miletto, presents WWAP's activities on water and gender during the session titled "Empowering women participation and empowerment for water and development". Download the PPT

 

Many of UNESCO’s representatives will contribute to several discussions, and UNESCO Assistant Director-General for the Africa Department Mr. Firmin Edourad Matoko, will participate in the High Level Panel “Cultural Heritage and Creativity through Women’s Lens” along with Mr. Stefano Manservisi, Director General of the European Commission Directorate General for International Cooperation and Development, and Mr. Abel Enrique Prieto Jimenez, Cuban Minister of Culture.
