WWAP and SIWI Key Collaborating Partner for the World Water Week 2018

WWAP has accepted to serve as Key-collaborating partner of the World Water Week 2018 dedicated to the theme “Water, ecosystems and the human development”.

In this new role, WWAP will co-convene two seminars during the event, on “Sustainable infrastructure for inclusive, green growth” to discuss what exactly is meant by sustainable infrastructure from an ecosystem and water development perspective, and on “Tapping into collective wisdom: gender sensitive development and water ecosystems” to better understand sustainable development for enhanced ecosystems through gendered transformative approaches.

In order to inform and complement with the theme of World Water Week 2018, the main findings of the World Water Development Report 2018 titled “Nature-based solutions for water”, the UN-Water flagship Report on water issues, will be presented by WWAP in collaboration with several UN-Water members and partners.

The Report will show that nature-based solutions are essential to ensuring water security, while simultaneously delivering co-benefits essential to all aspects of sustainable development, and therefore are central to achieving the 2030 Agenda. The Report will be officially launched  at the 8th World Water Forum in Brasilia and in many regional/national events worldwide on 22 March (World Water Day).
