The Water Festival. Session on the Agenda 2030

The World Water Assessment Programme participated to the Festival dell’Acqua, organized by Utiltalia, in Bari, Italy on 8-11 October.

Government and water utilities representatives together with local and international experts on water resources convened for three days to discuss about the circular economy, water accessibility and sustainable development; the event aimed at learning and comparing best practices and new approaches to protect the global water resources.

WWAP contributed to the session on the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development and Goal 6 on Water and Sanitation with a keynote on 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development also mentioning the SDG 6 Synthesis Report 2018 on Water and Sanitation, a UN-Water Report coordinated by WWAP, which will be published in June 2018 to provide an overview of progress to Member States on this goal. The report also explores the linkages within SDG 6 targets as well as the interlinkages between SDG 6 and the other targets and indicators.

Also, WWAP Coordinator, Stefan Uhlenbrook, presented the main findings of the UN World Water Development Report 2017: Wastewater, the Untapped Resource during the session dedicated to the concepts of circular economy and wastewater reuse.
