Representatives of UN agencies and members of UN-Water have gathered at WWAP Secretariat to discuss the content and structure of the World Water Development Report (WWDR) 2020, on 19-21 September.

The Inception Meeting aims at reaching a common understanding of the scope, structure and content of the WWDR 2020, and the modalities for its production, including task distribution among committed Lead agencies, Contributing agencies and other potential actors.

The WWDR 2020 seeks to address the critical linkages between water and climate change in the context of the broader sustainable development agenda. The report will focus on the challenges, opportunities and potential responses to climate change – in terms of adaptation, mitigation and improved resilience – that can be addressed through enhancing water resources management and improving access to water supply and sanitation services for all. In doing so, the report will address two of the most critical crises the world will face over the next several decades: Water (in)security and climate change.

The Report will be launched in March 2020.
