Water for All, All for Water!
Water for All, All for Water! is a campaign launched by WWAP and its local partner POST (Perugia Officina per la Scienza e la Tecnologia) in 2010 to raise the awareness of young people and educators concerning water quality issues and related impacts on our lives.
This initiative addressed to schools is developed in the framework of the World Water Monitoring Day and is aimed at involving young people and their teachers in activities around freshwater monitoring and evaluation.
World Water Monitoring Day is an international education and outreach program that builds public awareness and involvement in protecting water resources around the world by engaging citizens to conduct basic monitoring of their local water bodies. Officially celebrated every 18 September, the results of each year’s monitoring efforts can be submitted from 22 March to 31 December on the dedicated website. Events around the world are coordinated by the International Water Association and the Water Environment Federation.
1st edition of Water for All, All for Water! 2010/2011
WWAP and its local partner POST (Perugia Officina per la Scienza e la Tecnologia) launched the first edition of the Water for all, All for Water! project in Perugia, Italy, to make young people and teachers aware of the importance of water quality for our lives.
The initiative involved about 20 schools in the Province of Perugia in Italy. Schools were provided with an easy-to-use test kit to sample local water bodies distributed by WWAP through the local partner POST and submitted their data on the global World Water Monitoring Day database.
The participating schools also took part in a contest rewarding the projects presenting the best monitoring methodology and greatest originality. The three winning schools were rewarded thanks to the support of local partner Umbra Acque on the occasion of the World Water Day celebrations on 22 March 2011 at WWAP Office at Villa la Colombella, Perugia, Italy.
