The 2017 UN World Water Development Report was launched in Uzbekistan on the occasion of the World Water Day on 22 March at an event at the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Melioration (TIIM) attended by Deputies from the Agriculture and Water Committee of the Oliy Majlis, the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Tashkent State Agrarian University, Mirzo Ulugbek National University of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov Tashkent State Technical University, Bukhara Branch of the TIIM, as well as the international organizations, including the Delegation of the European Union to Uzbekistan, UNDP in Uzbekistan, German Society for International Cooperation, Embassy of Switzerland in Uzbekistan, Scientific-Information Center of the Interstate Coordination Water Commission (SIC ICWC) of the Central Asia, Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) representative office in Uzbekistan, International Water Management Institute (IWMI) Central Asia and students.

During the launch, the main findings of the WWDR 2017 'Wastewater: The untapped resource' were presented by the UNESCO Tashkent Office and hard copies of the Report distributed.
The development of the WWDR, coordinated by the World Water Assessment Programme (WWAP), is a joint effort of the UN agencies and entities which make up UN-Water, working in partnership with governments, international organizations, non-governmental organizations and other stakeholders.
