Internet Discussion Forums

ICTs provide the means for organizing Internet discussion forums of various kinds, which in turn can contribute to the sharing of experience and action on many of the issues addressed in the Mauritius Strategy.

Among UNESCO's virtual forums, ON THE FRONTLINES OF CLIMATE CHANGE: An Internet Forum For Indigenous Peoples, Small Islands And Vulnerable Communities was lunched in June 2008 in response to the outcry caused by the continuing absence of vulnerable groups from international debates on climate change. This forum/platform runs in English, French and Spanish, and promotes the sharing and exchange of community-level observations, concerns and innovations with respect to climate change: impacts, opportunities and adaptation. Every 3 weeks rural and indigenous communities living in environments vulnerable to climate change, including in SIDS, share their experiences and coping strategies.
