Caribbean: Mapping of Arid and Semi-Arid Zones

The first phase consists of the preparation of maps to better capture the topography and other possible local features of the islands.

Mapping of arid and semi arid zones in Latin America and the Caribbean is among the projects of the Center for Water in the Arid and Semi-Arid Zones of Latin America and the Caribbean ( Centro del Agua para Zonas Áridas y Semiáridas de América Latina y El Caribe) (CAZALAC), with Headquarters in La Serena, Chile.

Accompanying the island maps are tables providing monthly values for temperature, precipitation, relative humidity and solar radiation over a 30-year period. Maps will be digitized during a subsequent phase of the project. Accessible through the CAZALAC website are overviews of the status of work for Cuba, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Martinique, Puerto Rico, St Lucia and Trinidad & Tobago, among others.
