Book: Challenging HIV and AIDS – A New Role for Caribbean Education

The situation concerning HIV and AIDS is alarming in the Caribbean. Following sub-Saharan Africa, the region has a higher HIV prevalence than any other area of the world. The UNESCO publication “Challenging HIV and AIDS” brings together experts from the Caribbean’s education sectors who investigate the important role of education as a means to halt the spread of HIV and AIDS.

The 25 chapters of the book identify effective approaches tailored to the Caribbean to tackle the epidemic. They include the reduction of ignorance and the accompanying stigma and discrimination as well as the addressing of issues of sexuality through Health and Family Life Education in schools.

“Challenging HIV and AIDS – A New Role for Caribbean Education” can be purchased for 24€ through UNESCO publishing.
