ICOMOS Thematic Study: Early Human Expansion and Innovation in the Pacific

This study gives an overview of the initial human colonisation of the Pacific. It is the second regional study of the region aiming to facilitate the selection of cultural properties for nomination to the World Heritage List. While introducing general issues and places and focusing exclusively on archaeological sites, it does not give detailed assessments of potential individual nominations. “Early Human Expansion and Innovation in the Pacific” was compiled by experts in the field but is based no new original field or documentary research was undertaken.

It is available at the UNESCO Library
