Matching youth skills and the marketplace in the Caribbean
How can countries ensure their youth and adults develop the skills needed in the labour market? A workshop organized by UNESCO, the ILO and the Caribbean Development Bank (Bridgetown, Barbados, 26–30 September) aims to help ministries of education and labour and national training agencies in the Caribbean region address this increasingly urgent question.
Because skills are a key factor for the employability of workers and the sustainability of businesses, the workshop will explore national skills development and technical and vocational education and training (TVET) policies and systems, and how to improve them. Such policies encompass lifelong learning, workplace learning and learning opportunities in the informal and rural economies.
The aim of the workshop is thus to contribute towards national TVET policy reviews to improve the effectiveness of skills development and TVET systems in the Caribbean region.
