Youth in Engineering

One goal of the UNESCO Engineering Initiative (UEI) is to increase the number of students studying engineering at the tertiary level so as to maintain and improve the socio-economic development of societies. To ensure the world will have enough engineers for future sustainable development, it is necessary to encourage and inspire youth to take on contemporary challenges.

With our partners, UEI is providing youth with opportunities to advance their interests in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Through events such as the UNESCO Youth Forum and World Science Day 2013, UEI is giving youth a platform to voice their opinions on contemporary engineering and development issues. Additionally, UEI is working with its partners to increase the visibility of engineering to youth through hands-on educational activities and teachers’ pedagogical guides.
