Assessing science and engineering education in Asian tertiary institutions
Within its Comprehensive Programme to Enhance Technology, Engineering and Science Education in Asia (COMPETENCE), UNESCO’s Jakarta office assessed science, technology, engineering and mathematics in higher education in Timor Leste and Bangladesh in 2010. Two pilot projects are being implemented in these two countries.
COMPETENCE is part of UNESCO’s recently launched Science Support Strategy for Asia and the Pacific, which focuses on four main themes:
- Climate Change and Environmental resources,
- Science Policy and Science Education, and
- Disaster Preparedness and Mitigation.
